Chatham Student Wins Governor's Award For Music Education
Chatham High School senior Grace Petersen will receive the award in a virtual ceremony May 22.

CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham High School senior Grace Petersen earned the 2021 Governor's Award for the Arts in Music Education. Petersen will receive the award May 22 in a virtual ceremony.
The NJ Governor’s Awards in Arts Education sets to increase awareness of arts education and achievement in New Jersey schools. Applicants accross the state apply for music awards across band, chorus and orchestra.
"This is an incredible honor and recognition for Grace," said Ken Bryson, a chorus teacher at Chatham High School. The Governor's Award in Music Education is both highly competitive and selective. ... I couldn't be prouder of this accomplishment, it is very well deserved."

Jeff Santaro — the arts coordinator for the awards — added the following:
"This is quite an achievement when you consider that you are representing tens of thousands of student musicians throughout the State of New Jersey. These awards recognize the importance of music in our schools and the State’s commitment to Arts Education."
