Diversity Celebration For Chatham, Madison On June 30

Performers and speakers will be a part of the festivities at the Chatham Train Station on Wednesday, June 30 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

CHATHAM, NJ — Performances and speakers are expected to be a part of an evening to celebrate diversity within the Chathams and Madison on Wednesday, June 30.

Chatham Borough and Township, as well as Madison, are co-hosting the event, which starts at 6 p.m. on the Lum Lawn of the Chatham Train Station’s south parking lot.

The celebration is planned through 8:30 p.m., with parking available at the ECLC’s Chatham school on 21 Lum Avenue.

A Chatham Township resolution 2021-042 created the “Diversity Committee of the Chathams" in January, intended to promote cultural awareness, celebrate diversity and to work with local police, the Interfaith Council and Library/Senior Center/Recreation/Historical Society/Arts on cultural aspects of the Chathams.

Appointees to the Committee are selected by the Mayor with the final approval of the Chatham Township Committee.

The Diversity Committee has the aim to foster a welcoming atmosphere in the Chathams, share any concerns, continue to celebrate diversity in the Township and Borough and connect with independent groups within the Chathams.
