Downed Telephone Pole Closes Watching Avenue: Chatham Boro Police

CHATHAM, NJ - A downed telephone pole has closed Watchung Avenue and snarled traffic in the area Tuesday afternoon, according to the Chatham Borough Police Department.

According to authorities, Watchung Avenue between Fairmount Avenue and Washington Avenue will be closed while the repair work is done. Officials said that JCP&L has been notified, but motorists should avoid the area and expect delays.

Drivers are also being asked to follow the detour set in place, police said.
