Drunk Driver Cracks Up Car: Chatham Township Police
Jamie Schmidt hit a parked car, but was uninjured, police said.
CHATHAM, NJ - A 33-year-old Berkleigh Heights woman was charged with driving under the influence after a motor vehicle accident on Nov. 19, according to the Chatham Township Police.
According to authorities, shortly before 8 p.m. officers were dispatched to River
Road for a reported motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles. The investigation showed that a vehicle travelling East on River Road struck an unoccupied parked vehicle, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, Jamie Schmidt, was uninjured in the crash with the parked car, police said. After further investigation, including roadside sobriety tests, it was determined that Schmidt was driving while intoxicated, police said. Schmidt was arrested for suspicion of Driving while intoxicated and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. She was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving and released pending a future date in Municipal Court, police said.
