A former Madison Pharmacy employee is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the borough store by creating money orders for herself in $500 increments.

According to dailyrecord.com, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a forfeiture lawsuit to take possession of a 2007 Nissan Murano allegedly purchased with the stolen money by Khadijah Arnold, 21, of Morristown.

Arnold was charged in May after allegedly confessing to authorities that she had stolen some $33,151 from the pharmacy, the report said. But a further investigation into Arnold’s bank account showed she had stolen a total of $46,000 in MoneyGram orders, the report said.

The county is now attempting, through the suit, to seize the vehicle under the state’s forfeiture laws that allow prosecutors to extinguish people’s property rights if it is proven the goods were obtained through illegal activity, the report said.

Arnold was confronted by the store owner, Frank Iannarone, in April when he found $2,500 missing, the report said. An investigation led authorities to find Arnold had been pocketing the money since January, the report said.
