Future Of Chatham Township Skate Park Remains Unsettled
Moving Chatham Township Skate Park Not On Thursday's Township Meeting Agenda

Earlier this month two Lafayette School students, Arjun Purani and Sam Kelliher, spoke at the Chatham Township Committee Meeting to make the case for saving the popular Skate Park in Southern Blvd. They submitted a petition with 580 signatures and made a strong case for saving the Skate Park.
The Skate Park is nearly always in use and has proven to be an important recreational facility to the youth of Chatham and many surrounding communities. Also, the sport of Skate Boarding has many health benefits, and providing a space for skateboarding reduces the amount of dangerous skateboarding in streets and roadways.
Since December 18th, when former Chatham Township Administrator Thomas Ciccarone first announce that Chatham Township was actively seeking to move the Skate Park (you can see his remarks at around the 47 minute mark of the video here), many local citizens have spoken in favor relocating the Skate Park. At the recent June 13th Committee Meeting new Chatham Township Administrator Robert S. Hoffmann confirmed that three possible locations had been identified and negotiations were in progress. That was welcome news to those in attendance.

Even though there is currently nothing related to the possible locations for moving the Skate Park on this Thursday evening's planned meeting of the Chatham Township Committee, those who wish to address the Committee members on this important issue are welcome to attend and be heard.
