Helicopter Used to Inspect JCP&L Lines in Chatham
Regular check done with slow-flying aircraft.

JCP&L is conducting aerial inspections of its transmission lines through next week, weather permitting, the power company has announced.
Chatham Township and Chatham Borough published notices on their websites about the inspections, advising residents a helicopter will fly slowly along the lines and may hover for closer inspections.
The helicopter is a black, Hughes MD500 with registration N8371F.

Jersey Central Power & Light said the helicopter patrols are done twice each year to identify where maintenance is needed and trees need to cut back to avoid outages.
