Once again, slick, freezing, and icy conditions are plaguing Chatham residents. A wintry hazardous mix of precipitation has hit New Jersey Monday, and it’s expected to last until the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow and ice will hammer Chatham today, with less than an inch of snow accumulating during the day. Snow will continue to accumulate until 4 a.m. in Chatham with less than an inch of new snow accumulation, according to the NWS.
The National Weather Service has issued a ”Winter Weather Advisory,” an alert for freezing rain, sleet and snow that’s in effect from Monday at 6 a.m. to Tuesday at 6 a.m.

- 12 p.m.: 26 degrees with occasional snow
- 1 p.m.: 27 degrees with occasional snow
- 2 p.m.: 29 degrees with occasional snow
- 3 p.m.: 29 degrees with occasional snow
- 4 p.m.: 29 degrees with occasional snow
- 5 p.m.: 29 degrees with occasional snow
- 6 p.m.: 27 degrees with occasional snow
- 7 p.m.: 26 degrees with occasional snow
- 8 p.m.: 26 degrees with occasional snow
- 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.: 24 – 26 degrees with heavier snow
Crews and property owners already struggling with up to several feet of snow on the ground and on some roofs will need to prepare and make room for additional snow, according to Accuweather.
Enough snow, sleet and freezing rain can fall to make roads slippery around New York City and in New Jersey, especially where the precipitation occurs during the early morning and evening hours, according to Accuweather.
