How Much Snow, Freezing Rain, Ice Will Fall In Chatham Today?
Winter Storm Sparta arrives Sunday, bringing freezing temperatures and hazardous weather to town. Here's an hour-by-hour forecast.

No sign of springtime yet. Winter Storm Sparta will roll into Chatham today, bringing inches of snow, freezing rain, and frigid temperatures to town.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, saying periods of snow and/or wintry precipitation are a high likelihood Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, and again Tuesday evening.
Snow will begin to fall around 8 a.m. in Chatham Sunday, becoming heavier around 1 p.m., with a high near 29 degrees. An inch of new snow will accumulate during the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow and freezing rain will continue to hammer Chatham Sunday night. Up to three more inches snow and sleet, as well as a tenth of an inch of ice could accumulate overnight, with snow falling mainly before 1 a.m. Monday will be bitter cold with 18 mile-per-hour winds and temperatures only reaching the high 30s.

A brief warm up and some rain on Wednesday could cause pockets of poor drainage flooding throughout this area, according to the National Weather Service.
