Library of the Chathams Open for Visits and Takeout

The Library of the Chathams is now open to patrons for in-person visits, as well as contactless takeout service.

You may now visit the library in person, without an appointment, to browse the collections (look for books and movies) or use a computer/printer, copy machine, or fax machine. Starting Monday, May 24, we will also allow limited seating in the Reference area of the library, as well as one of the downstairs meeting rooms. Time limit will be 2 hours per person per day.

Masks are required to enter the building whether you are coming inside the library or just the takeout area.

When visiting in person, you must wear a properly fitting mask at all times. You will be asked to take your temperature and sanitize your hands. Maintain 6 feet distance from others, including staff. High-touch areas, such as computers and copy machine, are equipped with sanitizing kiosks - please sanitize equipment before and after use. Entrance is from the parking lot, exit through the front door. (Patrons with mobility issues may use the back door, which has a ramp.)

Library Takeout is still available for patrons who do not want to come into the library building at this time. Place your hold requests through the library catalog, or via email to librarian@chathamlibrary.org, or by phone at 973-635-0603. You will be notified by email or phone when your items are available. They will be checked out to you and placed on carts in the back hallway area (entrance from the parking lot). Just enter the hallway, take your items, and be on your way!

In-Persons Hours: Mon-Thu 11 am-8:30 pm, Fri 11 am-5:30 pm, Sat 11 am-4:30 pm

Takeout Hours: Mon-Thu 10 am-5:30 pm, Fri 10 am-5:30 pm, Sat 10 am-4:30 pm, Sun 2:30-5 pm

Chatham items will be fine-free through May 31, 2021. Please note that after May 31, overdue fines will be charged in the same way as before the pandemic.
