The ET trainers are all active hiring executives who have hired for fast-paced tech startups, Google, Fortune 500 companies, and the film industry. This gives them a perspective that they are not afraid to share:

‘We are hired to manage hiring and development for some pretty amazing and coveted companies. It’s not as easy as having a great resume. There is a lot of nepotism, unconscious bias, and an unprecedented number of applicants. To get a job today, you need a strategy to get to us and be seen. You need even more than that to get the job." -Colleen Ferrary, President, SmallBusinessUS.com

As of February 1st, over 10 million Americans are receiving unemployment benefits (this does not include the economic need of those who have exhausted unemployment benefits or have been forced into the gig economy or retirement.)

Last week, a New York company reported they received over 4,000 applications for an open unpaid intern position. Small Business USA (SmallBusinessUS.com) reports over 800 applications for every open position they post for their clients in the greater New York City and Los Angeles and a least 300 hundred in less populated areas of the U.S.

Much of this change is due to Covid and increased unemployment rates. An additional challenge for 2021 job seekers is the shift to remote working.

How to get their help:

In 2020, Small Business USA created Employment Tutors to support nonprofit organizations in New York City and Los Angeles. For the past two years, the organization has been working with students trying to break into the film industry. For the past two years, more and more organizations have asked for the group’s help. Today, Employment Tutors is working with several nonprofit employment groups focused on second-career adults, colleges and universities, early-career development advisory boards, and hiring and training for many for-profit companies.
