Make-Up Recycling Day Scheduled in Township

County authorities will collect recycling on Monday, April 1 instead of Friday, March 29.

Township residents will have to adjust their routine for the Easter holiday.

The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) announced they will not collect recycling in Chatham Township on Friday, March 29 in observance of Good Friday.

Instead, recycling will be collected on Monday, April 1, which is a teacher inservice day with a delayed opening for students in the School District of the Chathams.

Township residents can place their recycling out for collection by 6:30 a.m. on April 1.

The MUA collects single stream recycling in the township, which means residents can comingle their recyclables.

According to the MUA, eligible recyclables in the township include:

  • clean aluminum pie plates, trays and foil;
  • plastic containers, which include bottles and non-bottles coded #1 PETE , #2 HDPE, #4 LDPE, #5 PP, and #7 OTHER;
  • boxes used for liquids and frozen food, such as soup boxes, drink boxes and milk and juice cartons;
  • and cardboard packaging used for soda, juice or beer typically in 6 or 12-packs.

Also, newspapers and cardboard boxes should not be tied.
