National Night Out Celebration Returning To Chatham Aug. 3
Local fire departments and the police department are beginning to prepare for the annual event.
CHATHAM, NJ — With the return to in-person events, Chatham Township’s Police Department is planning on holding its National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.
A nationwide initiative traditionally held the first Tuesday of every August, though sidelined in many places by COVID-19 in 2020, Chief of Police Thomas Miller said details are still in the works.
The main event is being planned for the Colony Pool Club, Miller said. The Green Village Fire Department will also host a portion of it at their firehouse, Miller added.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office and Chatham Township Fire Department are expected to participate, with McGruff the Crime Dog planning to make an appearance at both locations during the evening's festivities.
National Night Out is a yearly community-building night, where police departments throughout the country sponsor festivals, barbecues, block parties and other celebrations with safety-geared activities, with local police departments and other first-responders spending time with residents within their communities.
