Parking Agreement for Colony Pool Up for Approval

A licensing agreement with PSE&G is on the agenda for approval at Thursday's Chatham Township Committee meeting.

Chatham Township may have reached an agreement with PSE&G over parking near Colony Pool & Tennis Club.

A license agreement with the utility company for Colony Pool parking is listed on the agenda for Thursday's Chatham Township Committee meeting.

PSE&G first notified the township they planned to terminate their license agreement for parking off of School Avenue in summer 2012 because of the monopole installations as part of their North Central Reliability Project. , but under new conditions.

Earlier this year PSE&G notified the borough and township they were rescinding all licensing agreements, including the one which allowed the Chatham Community Garden in the borough.

Borough Engineer Vincent J. DeNave said he told PSE&G if any borough officials found another town or entity that was allowed to keep their leases under the monopoles, "We're going to have a big problem."

In April the township committee turned School Avenue into a one-way street to allow for on-street parking near Colony Pool. The move was described as a temporary solution to the parking shortage near the pool.

Hagner did not immediately respond to requests for details about the agreement, and a copy of the resolution was not available before the meeting.

A liquor license renewal and a contract for the 2013 micro-surfacing project is also on the agenda for approval Thursday, as are two resolutions transfering the soccer and football programs.
