Road Restructuring Comes To Chatham Borough Monday

CHATHAM, NJ - A road restructuring program is set to begin Monday in Chatham Boro and authorities are cautioning motorists to prepare for delays.

Beginning on or around Aug. 19, North Passaic Avenue in Chatham Borough will undergo a road restructuring project under the direction of the Morris County Department of Engineering.
This project will include curbing, sidewalks, drainage, milling and paving. A majority of the restructuring work will take place between Weston Avenue and the Florham Park border. The final milling and paving phase will take place along the entire length of North Passaic Avenue.

The project is expected to continue through the month of September and the work will be conducted Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The work will not be conducted on weekends or legal holidays.

During the major restructuring phase, North Passaic Avenue will have an alternating traffic pattern. During the milling and paving phase, North Passaic Avenue will be closed and will have a clearly marked detour route to follow, officials said.

During this roadway improvement period, The Chatham Police Traffic Safety Unit asks that motorists plan alternate routes and expect delays when using North Passaic Avenue.
