Dump Truck Crash Causes Delays On Route 24 In Chatham Borough
The truck rolled into the median, and a propane tank leaked, according to police.

CHATHAM, NJ — Officials closed off Route 24 after a dump truck crashed into the median Wednesday afternoon in Chatham Borough. About five propane tanks flew off the truck, and one of the 100-pound tanks leaked, according to authorities.
Officials initially closed the highway. However, all but the eastbound right lane opened by 3 p.m., according to 511nj.org. Expect 15-20 minute delays.
Chatham Borough police responded to the crash at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday. About five propane tanks flew off the truck — some 100 pounds and some 20 pounds — and one leaked.

The Chatham Borough Fire Department also had to prepare and tap fire hydrants.
New Jersey State Police, Madison police, Florham Park police and Morris County HAZMAT also responded. Residents near the sewer plant — N. Passaic Avenue, N. Hillside Avenue, Cornell Place, Yale Street and Rutgers Street — may notice discolored water.

The Department of Public Works wrote the following:
"Due to an emergency in your area Fire hydrants were opened .
If you experience any brown water allow your faucets and toilets to run for a short period until clear. If the problem persists call the water department for assistance (973-635-5242)."
