Rush Hour NJT Service Changes Coming To Morris & Essex Line

The train cancellations will start on June 4, and last through early 2019. Is your train affected?

CHATHAM, NJ — Following last year's "summer of hell," New Jersey Transit Riders in Morris County are in for another season of train changes, the agency announced.

Starting on June 4, several inbound and outbound trains will be modified or cancelled as crews work to install positive train control systems. The changes are expected to last through early 2019. There are no changes to weekend trains.

The following changes will be in place throughout the summer:

Inbound Service

  • Train 608, the 5:45 a.m. departure from Dover to Hoboken, will now start in Summit. Trains will not run from Dover to Chatham.
    • Earlier train departs Dover at 5:33 a.m. Riders must transfer at Newark Broad Street for service to Hoboken.
    • Later train departs Dover at 5:54 a.m. Riders must transfer at Newark Broad Street for service to Hoboken.
  • Train 626, the 8:28 a.m. departure from Dover to Hoboken, will now start in Morristown. Trains will not run from Dover to Morristown.
    • Earlier train departs Dover at 8:08 a.m. Riders must transfer at Summit for service to Hoboken.
    • Later train departs Dover at 9:06 a.m. Riders must transfer at Newark Broad Street for service to Hoboken.

Outbound Service: Temporarily Discontinued Trains

  • Train 609, the 6:42 a.m. departure from Hoboken to Dover
    • Earlier train departs Hoboken at 6:15 a.m.
    • Later train departs Hoboken at 6:55 a.m. Riders must transfer at Summit for service to Dover.
  • Train 645, the 5:08 p.m. departure from Hoboken to Dover
    • Earlier train departs Hoboken at 4:42 p.m.
    • Later train departs Hoboken at 5:12 p.m. Riders must transfer at Newark Broad Street Station for service to Dover.
