Security Guard Suing Chatham Cop Who Allegedly Held Gun to His Head: Report
Joseph Kearney, Jr., of Linden said Chatham Officer Roy George threatened to "blow his [expletive] head off," NJ.com reported.

CHATHAM, N.J.– A Linden man who works as a bank security guard is planning to sue a Chatham officer who allegedly held a gun to his head during a Dec. 2015 incident, according to a report.
Joseph Kearney, Jr., of Linden said Chatham Officer Roy George threatened to "blow his [expletive] head off," NJ.com reported.
Kearney, a Vietnam War veteran and retired Union County Corrections Officer, filed a notice of tort claim – which is necessary before suing a municipality or government agency – back in February, NJ.com reported.

An October 2009 incident in which George left his fully loaded .45-caliber handgun and credentials on a Westfield lawn after a night of drinking led to him being demoted from the rank of sergeant, NJ.com reported.
On Dec. 15, 2015, Kearney reported to the Bank of America on Main Street for his assignment as an armed security guard, the report states.

He alleges that George, a 14-year veteran of the Chatham Police Department, ordered him to the ground, held a gun to his head and threatened him, the report states.
Kearney said he smelled alcohol on George's breath, according to the report.
