Text About Speeding Fine A Scam: Chatham Borough Police
The Chatham Borough Police Department warn residents not to click on any hyperlinks.
CHATHAM, NJ - Another scam has developed through text message and the Chatham Borough Police Department want residents to be aware.
"If you receive a text or email indicating the you have been detected with a speed infringement in Chatham, New Jersey with a Case Number and a fine due, along with a hyperlink to view the photo of the vehicle. This is a scam," police said.
According to authorities, the Chatham Borough Police Department does not enforce with any such system. They also are instructing residents not to click on any links and not to send any money.
