2 Cherry Hill Residents Die Of Coronavirus
Camden County announced eight new deaths related to the coronavirus between May 1 and May 3.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Two Cherry Hill residents have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Monday.
Two Cherry Hill women — one in her 50s and one in her 60s — were among eight Camden County residents whose deaths were announced for the period of May 1-3. There were also 300 new cases announced, bringing the total number of cases to 48,007 and total number of deaths to 1,175 in Camden County since the pandemic began more than a year ago.
“Even with more than half of all adults in Camden County having received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, this virus continues to rip a hole in our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as the health department announces eight new deaths caused by coronavirus,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Governor Murphy has officially put New Jersey on a path to reopening and regaining a sense of normality for the first time since last March. Even when capacity limits and other restrictions are removed in the coming weeks, please continue to be mindful of your neighbors’ health and safety. Keep social distancing, wear a mask when you can’t, and most importantly, get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

The announcement did come as Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Monday that New Jersey is set to remove many coronavirus restrictions, with areas such as restaurants, retail, amusement parks and personal care services getting a boost soon.

The following information is available regarding the most recent deaths in Camden County:
- A Pennsauken woman in her 50s;
- A Gloucester Township man in his 60s;
- A Collingswood man in his 50s;
- A Berlin man in his 80s;
- A Gloucester Township woman in her 80s;
- A Pennsauken woman in her 80s;
- A Cherry Hill woman in her 50s; and
- A Cherry Hill woman in her 60s.
To date, 403,868 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There 183,041 people who are fully vaccinated.
There have been 2,382 confirmed cases and 466 deaths among residents in the county’s 56 long-term care facilities. There have been 1,391 cases and seven deaths among staff members at these facilities.
The Camden County Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases.
