40th Anniversary of Chapel Avenue Cherries at West Sunday Afternoon

A decades-long project will be celebrated under the cherry blossoms.

Cherry Hill will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Chapel Avenue cherry tree project Sunday afternoon, with a display of police, fire and emergency equipment at Cherry Hill West.

The celebration of the cherries begins at 1 p.m. in West’s front parking lot along Chapel Avenue.

The day will recognize four decades of work to turn the avenue into an unbroken stretch of Kwanzan cherry trees, a project only completed a week ago, after the last few shade trees were pulled out and replaced by cherries.
