Cherry Hill-Based Donating Dignity Helps Women In Need
Cherry Hill-based Donating Dignity distributes new bras, pads and tampons to enhance the dignity of women in need.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — In honor of Women’s History Month, Cherry Hill Mayor Susan Shin Angulo is encouraging residents to make a donation to Distributing Dignity, a local organization that partners with nonprofits to help women in need.
The group, founded in 2009, distributes new bras, pads and tampons to enhance the dignity of women in need, according to the organization’s website.
The idea came after a request from a woman at a homeless day center in Camden, where the organizers were donating gently used business clothes for job interviews.

They held their first event in 2010, where they collected 80 new bras. Their second event, in 2011, broadened the group’s outreach to include women who had aged out of the foster care system and families in South Jersey impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Shin Angulo is inviting residents to donate an unopened package of pads anytime in March. There are a few ways to participate:

- Hold your own collection and schedule drop-off or pick-up with them
- Bring your donation to their Drive-Thru Donation Event at the Cherry Hill Public Library on Saturday, March 20, from noon to 2 p.m. (Rain Date March 27). When dropping off a donation, residents should remember to wear a mask.
