Cherry Hill East To Host Holiday Basketball Tournament
The Ginny Whitaker Classic will take place on Friday, Saturday and Monday at Cherry Hill High School East.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Cherry Hill High School East will host one of several annual holiday tournaments across New Jersey this weekend. The Ginny Whitaker Classic takes place on Friday, Saturday and Monday, and both local boys basketball teams will compete in the event. It is a showcase event, pitting some of the best teams in South Jersey against each other in a series of games.
Cherry Hill West will open the event at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, against Master Charter. Cherry Hill East will host Pemberton at 11:30 a.m. The local teams swap opponents on Saturday, with Cherry Hill West facing Pemberton at 10 a.m. and Cherry Hill East hosting Master Charter at 11:30 a.m.
The showcase serves up four games on Monday, Dec. 30. Master Charter and Pemberton will open the festivities at 2:45 p.m. Cherry Hill East and Cherry Hill West will meet in a rivalry game at 4:30 p.m. Two Pennsylvania teams will make the trip across the river for the nightcap.

At 6:15 p.m., Archbishop Wood (PA) faces off against Wildwood Catholic. Roman Catholic (PA) and Camden will bring the event to a close at 8 p,m. Monday night.
Both local girls basketball teams will hit the road for tournaments this weekend.

The Cherry Hill High School West girls basketball team will compete in the Pop Vernon Classic at Riverside on Friday and Saturday. They will play host Riverside at 12:30 p.m., after Moorestown meets Salem in the opening game of the tournament at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.
The winners meet in the final at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, preceded by the consolation game at 11 a.m.
Cherry Hill East travels to New Egypt for the Warrior Classic. They will play Robbinsville in the first game of the tournament at noon on Friday, Dec. 27. Host New Egypt faces Raritan at 3 p.m.
The winners face off in the final at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, preceded by the consolation game at noon.
