Cherry Hill East Student Suffers Head Trauma in Car vs. Truck Crash

The teen's Honda collided with a tractor-trailer carrying gravel. The accident shut down Kresson Road for four hours.

A Cherry Hill East student is hospitalized with head trauma after the teen’s car collided with a tractor-trailer loaded with gravel Monday afternoon.

The accident shut down Kresson Road for hours as police cleared the scene of debris and launched an investigation.

The student, operating a Honda Civic, was leaving the school at 2 p.m. and made a left-hand turn onto Kresson Road from the parking lot near Cooper Run Drive, Cherry Hill Police said. The tractor-trailer was traveling on Kresson Road and unable to stop in time as the student turned onto the road.

A Twitter user's photo from the scene showed extensive damage to the Civic, with the driver's side door smashed in and the windshield shattered.

The teen, a senior who was not immediately identified pending notification to her parents, was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden with head injuries. She was listed in serious condition.

The truck driver was not injured.
