Cherry Hill Mayor Susan Shin Angulo is proud to announce the Township’s new, streamlined web address, CHNJ.gov, is now live, making it simpler than ever to access township services, contact municipal departments, and find information online.

Mayor Angulo chose to make the switch in the wake of new bipartisan federal legislation passed late last year that makes it easier for local governments to register a .gov domain address. The DOTGOV Online Trust in Government Act, included as part of the December 2020 Covid relief spending bill, was designed to remove common barriers to adoption. A $400 annual fee that was previously required to maintain a .gov domain, for example, is now waived for municipalities under the legislation.

The act was aimed at helping boost municipalities’ cyber security efforts since .gov is a trusted top level domain and includes more security features than commercial web domains, like .com typically have.

With the shorter, .gov address, the township is able to both bolster Cherry Hill Township’s presence online and reinforce the public’s trust in online communications with the municipality.

“With this added layer of security, our residents and businesses will now have a greater peace of mind when interacting with us online,” Angulo said. “This move represents an important step forward in ensuring our municipal government embraces innovation and remains accessible and open to all.”

While the township’s first URL, CherryHill-NJ.com, will still redirect to the township’s homepage on an ongoing basis, it is recommended users update any bookmarks to specific webpages on the site.

All township employee email addresses will also switch over to using the new domain as well, but all emails sent to old addresses will also be redirected to the new domain on an ongoing basis.
