East-West Thanksgiving Game Still On—For Now

School officials are keeping an eye on a nor'easter predicted to hit the area Tuesday.

With the threat of nasty weather extending well into Wednesday from a nor'easter that should hit Tuesday afternoon, Cherry Hill school officials say they're trying to keep the annual Thanksgiving rivalry game between Cherry Hill East and West on schedule for Wednesday night.

Current forecasts put the storm clearing out around the 6 p.m. start, but school officials said they're going to check to see how, if at all, that forecast changes by noon Tuesday to get a better sense of how the weather might affect the game.

The worst of the storm should hit Tuesday afternoon and into the day Wednesday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasting a total of close to three inches of rain through about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The chance of rain starts falling off in the early afternoon hours Wednesday, though, the NWS predicts, with around a 35-percent chance of rain around the scheduled start of the rivalry game.

Winds should pick up around game time, as well, according to the NWS, with a breeze around 11 mph increasing to 18 to 20 mph by the second half.

Any precipitation should be rain, the NWS is predicting, with only a small chance of snow well after the game ends, in the 10 p.m.-to-midnight range Wednesday.
