Gregory Parkhill Charged with Vehicular Homicide in High-Speed Crash

Chau Tu, a 73-year-old from Cherry Hill, was killed when a car hit him on Route 70 as he was walking home from the bus stop.

Gregory Parkhill, a 22-year-old Cherry Hill man, was charged Tuesday with vehicular homicide for allegedly slamming his car into a pedestrian while speeding up to 90 mph on Route 70.

Parkhill was reportedly driving his sport utility truck at speeds between 83 and 90 mph eastbound on Route 70 when he hit pedestrian Chau Tu, 73, of Cherry Hill, around 8 a.m. on Sept. 7, 2012. Tu had just finished a midnight shift at his job and was walking home from a bus stop, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Cherry Hill Police said.

The crash happened near Kenwood Drive, where the speed limit is 45 mph.

Parkhill, who also has an address in Philadelphia, was held on $75,000 bail in Camden County Jail Tuesday.
