Ice Wreaks Havoc on Philly, NJ Bridges

Conditions go downhill in a hurry after a brief snowstorm Monday night.

The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) reported all bridges were reopened after 10:30 p.m. Monday after icy conditions caused a shutdown on the eastbound Walt Whitman Bridge Monday night following a quick-moving snowstorm that coated the area.

None of the other DRPA-owned bridges were closed at any point, though heavy traffic was reported on the Betsy Ross Bridge, with some drivers complaining on Twitter of being stuck in standstill traffic for an hour or more.

Speeds are restricted to 25 mph on all four of the DRPA's bridges—the Whitman, Ross, Ben Franklin and Commodore Barry.
