Jewish Teens Invited To Join Team South Jersey At Maccabi Games

Tryouts for the summer games will be held in February for all Jewish teens, ages 13-16.

CHERRY HILL, NJ - South Jersey will send a team a Jewish teens to two states to compete in the JCC Maccabi Games this summer. All Jewish teens, ages 13-16, are invited to participate in the JCC Maccabi Games, the world’s largest gathering of Jewish teens, as a member of Team South Jersey, according to the Cherry Hill-based Betty and Milton Katz Jewish Community Center.

Team South Jersey will compete in a variety of sports games hosted in Atlanta, Georgia from July 28 - Aug. 2; or Detroit, Michigan from August 4- 9.

“Teens that participate in the JCC Maccabi Games leave with a unique summer experience they’ll never forget,” Team South Jersey Delegation Head Bill Christy said. “Not only will they get the opportunity to compete with athletes from around the country, but they’ll leave with new friendships and pride for their Jewish heritage.”

In addition to athletic competition, the Games promote community involvement, compassion and teamwork. Since its inception in 1982, over 140,000 teens have benefited from the JCC Maccabi Games.

The energy and excitement make it a unique and unforgettable experience for every participant, from athletes to volunteers, from coaches to host families, according to the JCC.
