Man Arrested In 2017 Cherry Hill Bank Robbery: Police

A Maryland man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a TD Bank in Cherry Hill that took place in 2017, police said on Monday.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A Maryland man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a TD Bank in Cherry Hill that took place in 2017, authorities announced on Monday.

Phillip Thomas, 39, of Elkton, Maryland, was arrested after new information received this year lead investigators to link him to the Feb. 26, 2017, robbery of the bank on the 1700 block of Route 70 East, police said.

The robbery took place at abut 11:16 a.m. when a man passed a note to a teller demanding cash, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Cherry Hill Police Chief William “Bud” Monaghan.

The man was captured on surveillance video leaving with an undisclosed amount of money and driving away in a silver minivan, police said. Footage of the incident was released to the public, but detectives said no one came forward to identify the man until now.

Thomas was arrested in Maryland on Sunday, and he was charged with one county of second-degree robbery, authorities said. He is currently being held at the Cecil County Detention Center, where he’s awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
