Gov. Chris Christie will sign a Senate resolution honoring the nation on its anniversary Monday.

New Jersey will honor the founding of Israel as a nation with a Senate resolution Monday, the 65th anniversary of Israel’s modern statehood.

Sponsored by Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney (D-Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland) and Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen) “reaffirms the bonds of friendship and cooperation between New Jersey and Israel” Senate representatives said.

“New Jersey’s residents have been among the greatest advocates, friends and partners of the State of Israel,” said Weinberg, a member of the N.J. Israel Commission. “No one can question the strong, definitive bond between us and I look forward to seeing that relationship continue for generations to come."
