Severe Thunderstorm Warning Expires; Watch In Place Until 10 P.M.
A severe thunderstorm warning for South Jersey expired at 7 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch for the area remains in effect until 10 p.m.
CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — A severe thunderstorm warning issued for Northwestern Camden County and Northwestern Burlington County has expired.
At 6:13 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Norristown, or 12 miles northwest of Philadelphia, moving east at 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm watch, however, still remains in place until 10 p.m.

What does that mean exactly? This type of watch is issued when conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. A severe thunderstorm by definition is a thunderstorm that produces one inch hail or larger in diameter and/or winds equal or exceed 58 miles an hour, according to the National Weather Service.

In our area, the forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. tonight. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain.
