Teachers, Triton Could Face Lawsuits from Student Sex Scandal: Report

Tort notices have been filed on behalf of all three Triton High School graduates.

A Cherry Hill resident and a former Cherry Hill East teacher could face potential lawsuits for their alleged involvement in the Triton Regional High School teacher-student sex scandal, after notices of tort claim were filed against them, Gloucester Township Patch reported Thursday.

Former Triton teacher Jeffrey P. Logandro and suspended teacher Nicholas V. Martinelli were both named in the tort claims, which were filed on behalf of all three victims in early November, about a month after charges were brought against both men, as well as former Triton teacher Daniel R. Michielli, former Triton principal Catherine DePaul and former Triton vice principal Jernee Kollock.

Logandro, who previously taught math at Cherry Hill East, and Michielli have already pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree official misconduct; both have forfeited their right to teach in New Jersey.

Martinelli, a Cherry Hill resident, still faces a charge of second-degree official misconduct.

All three tort notices claim "psychological trauma, severe emotional and psychological distress, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of self-esteem, disruption of schooling, loss of reputation, loss of trust of authority figures, loss of future earning and learning capacity, and punitive and/or treble damages," Gloucester Township Patch reported.
