Volley for Support at Cherry Hill West Friday

Teams of teachers, staff and administrators from throughout Cherry Hill will hit the court at Jones Gym at Cherry Hill West Friday evening to raise money for charity in the district's ninth annual Volley for Support volleyball tournament.

The annual event, which has raised more than $110,000 for various causes since its inception in 2005, began with just a handful of teams raising money for tsunami relief efforts, and now includes 20 teams from throughout the district. This year, the bulk of the fundraising effort will be directed to the Progeria Research Foundation.

Two of Cherry Hill's elementary schools will hold separate spirit events earlier in the day to kick off the fundraising effort—at Kingston Elementary, students will get the chance to toss a pie at one of 20 teachers and staff in “Pies for Progeria,” and at Cooper Elementary, students will get to treat a pair of teachers like giant ice cream sundaes and dump toppings on them.

Admission to the tournament is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
