West Deptford, Timber Creek Among South Jersey Football Champs
The region crowned four champions Sunday.

A day after Williamstown kicked things off by winning the Group 5 title, things got really heated at Rowan University for the annual South Jersey football title games. Here's how it played out:
Group 4:
Junior quarterback Dan Williams was a one-man highlight reel, posting 256 yards passing and five touchdowns as the Chargers repeated as champs, despite bumping up to Group 4 this season.

“I knew that coming into this game my team was ready to come out here and get the job done,” Williams told Gloucester Township Patch. “Coach put a good gameplan together and I just wanted to come out here and help my teammates. It’s just a dream come true.”
Group 3: Delsea 41, Northern Burlington 12

A year after missing the playoffs, the Crusaders pulled it together with an unstoppable running game—Tyrone Saud put up 118 yards, while teammate Rob Hooks went for 203—and a powerful defense in beating fourth-seeded Northern Burlington.
Group 2:
A year after exploding on to the scene as a sophomore, Gerald Owens posted an even more eye-popping game to close out his junior year, rushing for five touchdowns and 206 yards to carry the Eagles to back-to-back titles.
“It’s the desire, the will to win for the seniors,” Owens told West Deptford Patch. “I want them to go out with the best memories ever. I don’t want them to go out into life and on to college with a loss. I want them to come out with a win and I am going to everything I can. I would come out on this field in a full body cast. I will sacrifice everything I have.”
Group 1: Penns Grove 30, Woodbury 14
Woodbury jumped out to the lead behind Alabama-bound quarterback Anthony Averett's touchdown pass to Cameron Gamble, but it was almost all Penns Grove from that point, as the Red Devils completed an undefeated season and captured their first-ever South Jersey championship. Nick Elmer had 305 yards rushing and Isaiah Coppage returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown to help Penns Grove seal the win.
