Woman Rescued After Being Trapped Under Train: Officials

A woman became trapped under a train after she was struck early Tuesday morning, a spokesman for NJ Transit said.

PENNSAUKEN, NJ — A woman was rescued after becoming trapped under a train on the NJ Transit River Line in South Jersey early Tuesday morning.

She was hit at the 36th Street Station in Pennsauken around 6 a.m., NJ Transit said early Tuesday morning. She became trapped under the train, and was rescued by first responders about an hour later, a spokesperson for the rail system said.

She was taken to an area hospital. The adult woman was not identified, and her condition was unknown. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Service was temporarily suspended between the Walter Rand Transportation Center and the Pennsauken Transit Center, according to NJ Transit. It was running on or close to schedule by 10 a.m.
