Cinnaminson Still One of the Top Towns for New Home Construction

Despite a small drop in residential building permits, Cinnaminson remains one of the top municipalities for new home construction in South Jersey.

Cinnaminson remained one of the top towns in New Jersey for the construction of new homes 2012, according to a recent report by NJ Spotlight.

Last year, Cinnaminson Township had 154 residential building permits issued, 48 of which were single-family homes. Those numbers were easily the highest of any municipality in Burlington County. Of all surrounding towns, only Cherry Hill had more building permits issued.

The report by NJ Spotlight included an interactive map that showed the total number of residential building permits issued for each municipality in the state of New Jersey from 2009-2012.

The number of permits is down slightly from 2011, when Cinnaminson had 190 issued. However, the number is still indicative of a recovering housing economy as the 2012 number is well above the figure of 53 permits that were issued in 2009.

Another good sign for the township is the increase in construction value per home. In 2009, the construction value per home was at $111,350. That number has since increased to $177,598 in 2012.

The housing market looks to continue to be on the upswing for Cinnaminson so far in 2013. As of May, 60 residential building permits have been issued in the township and the average construction value per home is sitting at $146,809.

In the state of New Jersey as a whole, 17,939 permits were issued for residential construction in 2012. This was an increase of 38 percent from 2011, but still a far cry from the pre-recession high figure of 38,588 in 2005.
