Clark Pop Warner Junior Midgets Fall Short in Championship Game

The team lost to the Dorchester Vikings from Maryland, 29-6.

The Clark Pop Warner Junior Midget team lost a hard fought battle in the Eastern Region Championships Sunday night to the Dorchester Vikings from Maryland. The game was played at Shabazz High School in Newark.

"Although the score was 29 to 6, that is not reflective of how hard this team played," said League President Mike Bruno. "They are still the first NJ State champs and the second best team in the region, and that is something to be proud of."

Some of the boys will be moving on to Arthur L. Johnson high school to play freshman football, says Bruno.

The team defeated the Peekskill Titans, the New York champs, 40-0, last Sunday in North Brunswick in the semifinal game. Before that, they beat the Plainfield Cardinals two weeks ago at home, 44-20, to take the New Jersey championship and move into the Eastern Region playoffs.
