County Officials: Prevent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning With Generator Safety Tips

The blizzard could drop two feet on Union County. Local officials are urging residents to use generators safely if the power goes out.

As Winter Storm Juno lands in Union County, dumping 1 to 2 inches of heavy snow per hour, the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is urging residents to proceed with caution, especially when using generators during a power outage.

“After Superstorm Sandy, many Union County residents purchased emergency generators for home and commercial use in case of another extended power outage,” Freeholder Chairman Mohamed S. Jalloh stated. “With the pending blizzard approaching, now is the time to review your operating instructions, to make sure that you don’t expose yourself to carbon monoxide poisoning and other risks.”
