COVID Cases Prompt Clark Elementary School To Switch To Virtual

The switch to virtual learning was prompted after 2 positive coronavirus cases were reported at the Clark elementary school.

CLARK, NJ — Clark Valley Road School is switching to a full remote learning model after two positive coronavirus cases were reported.

Superintendent of Schools Edward Grande sent out a letter to parents announcing the switch from in-person, hybrid learning after a positive COVID case was reported on Thursday and Friday.

Virtual learning for Valley Road students begins on Monday and runs through Nov. 25. Students will return to in-person learning on Monday, Nov. 30 following the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

"Please know that this adjustment is being put into place purely as a preventive measure and that our other schools remain unimpacted at this time," Grande said.

The district is also working with public health officials and following Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), state, and local health department guidance.

Cleaning and disinfecting of all exposed areas are being completed. The school is also taking precautions to prevent the introduction and spread of viruses and other germs and is cleaning frequently touched surfaces daily.

Grande encouraged parents and students to continue following the CDC promoted safeguards such as:

  • Staying home when you are sick;
  • Washing hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds;
  • Covering coughs and sneezes, and properly disposing of tissues;
  • Limiting close contact with people who are sick, and not sharing food, drinks, and utensils;
  • Practicing social distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart);
  • Wearing a face covering while in school; and
  • Continuing to monitor your health for symptoms
