Garwood Announces MLK Day Of Service 2021 Virtual Activities

The Borough seeks volunteers to participate in at-home service activities.

The Borough of Garwood is excited to announce the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service activities, which will be held virtually on January 18, 2021, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The activities will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and focus on his community-building efforts and service to others. The Borough seeks community volunteers to participate in these at-home service activities.

“It's been a challenging year for everyone, but there's so much we can still give,” said Garwood Council President Jennifer Blumenstock. “While we can't be together, we can still show Garwood's community spirit.”

The activities include making sandwiches for the Elizabeth Coalition for the Homeless, creating cards for active military and veterans at Operation Gratitude, and hygiene kits for homeless teens at Visions and Pathways.

Residents are encouraged to do one activity or do them all from the safety of their homes and then drop them off outside Borough Hall on January 18 from 1-3 p.m. Masks are required at drop-off.
