Lidl Plans Summer Opening In Garwood

GARWOOD, NJ — Lidl, a chain grocery store, is planning to open a new store in Garwood sometime this summer.

Garwood Mayor Sara Todisco said the store at 10 South Ave. in Garwood, where the former Pathmark Supermarket used to be, is planning to open in June or July.

"We appreciate the support of the mayor and local officials, and we look forward to opening the store for the community in the future," said William Harwood a spokesman with Lidl.

Harwood added that the store will have "a better sense of timing for our grand opening" by this summer.

The Garwood store is among Lidl's $500 million new store expansion plan to open 10 new stores in New Jersey by the end of 2021.

The new stores were revealed as part of Lidl's $500 million new store expansion plan, which included opening 50 new stores along the East Coast and 10 in New Jersey by the end of next year.

Below is the list of 10 new stores that will open in New Jersey by the end of 2021.

• Brick - Hooper Ave
• Egg Harbor Township - Fire Road
• Garwood - South Ave
• Glassboro - Delsea Drive
• Gloucester Township - Blackwood
• Lawrenceville - S Black Horse Pike
• Park Ridge - Kinderkamack Rd
• Weehawken - Park Ave
• Woodbridge - St. Georges Ave
