CLARK/GARWOOD, NJ — Clark and Garwood School District principals and administrators are paid less than the median statewide salary, according to state data for the 2020-21 school year. See how they compare across the state and in Union County.

After delays caused by the COVID crisis, the state released new information that shows how much every New Jersey school district budgeted to pay principals, superintendents and administrators in 2020-21.

Garwood School District pays principals and administrators a median salary of $118,162, which is the 16th highest-paid in Union County and 342nd highest in the state.

Clark School District pays principals and administrators a median salary of $109,615, which is the 19th highest-paid in Union County and 448th highest in the state.

Both are less than the median statewide administrator salary, which is $128,052.

Plainfield's principals and administrators are the highest paid in Union County with a median salary of $149,815 and Cresthaven Academy Charter School in Union paid the lowest amount in Union County with a median salary of $80,000 and is 620th in the state.

The information is part of the state Department of Education's Taxpayer's Guide to Education Spending, which shows the median salary in every New Jersey school district.
