NJ Aid For Animals Pet of the Week: Checkers

He shares a namesake with the pet of former President Richard Nixon, but this guy is looking for his own First Family.

Checkers is a handsome dog.

He's medium-energy-level pet, so he loves to chase tennis balls, but is equally happy relaxing on a bench. He also walks pretty nicely on the leash and knows "sit" and "paw."

Checkers' only requirement is a home with no kitties. He is neutered, has had all his shots, is microchipped, and comes with pet insurance.

U.S. President Richard Nixon once owned a dog named Checkers, a gift from political donors who came to prominence in a famous speech in 1952, when the then-vice-president told a national audience he would keep the dog.
