Collingswood Among Best NJ Towns To Live In, Report Says

Collingswood received an A- on Niche's NJ report card.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — If you live in Collingswood and were thinking about moving, you might want to think twice: a new report says there’s almost no place in the state that’s better to live.

Niche has come out with its new 2019 rankings of the "Best Places to Live" in New Jersey, but for at least the third year in a row, it took a bit of a unique approach: The consumer rankings service assigned a grade, on an A+-to-D- scale, to almost every town in the state.

Collingswood received an A- in the new rankings. To arrive at the rankings, Niche.com took several factors into consideration, such as the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities.

Niche created a standardized score for each factor, and after weighting each factor, an overall score was calculated, which was again given a new standardized score.

Finally, Niche.com created a numerical ranking and assigned grades for each place. Click here to read more about the methodology.

Collingswood received an A+ for nightlife and an A- for diversity and for being good for families. It got a B+ for public schools, a C+ for crime and safety and a C for housing.

According to Niche:
“ Living in Collingswood offers residents an urban feel and most residents own their homes. In Collingswood there are a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Many young professionals live in Collingswood and residents tend to be liberal. The public schools in Collingswood are above average.”
