Collingswood Man Accused Of Assault Files Complaint: Report

A Collingswood business owner who was accused of assault has filed a complaint against the victim, the Courier Post reports.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A Collingswood business owner who has been charged with attacking the employee of another business with a shovel has reportedly filed a complaint against the alleged victim.

Brian McBride and Debbie Blissick, a couple who own Cup of Bliss Coffee Co., have filed a trespassing complaint against Paris Young, the Courier Post reports. They contend that Young went behind their coffee shop and engaged in an argument with Blissick refusing to leave.

McBride was arrested and charged with attacking Young with a shovel at the business on the 500 block of Haddon Avenue on Aug. 4. A witness told police he saw McBride swing and hit the victim in the head with a shovel, causing the victim to fall to the ground, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Collingswood Police Chief Kevin Carey.

Through the investigation, detectives discovered surveillance footage that shows the victim stumbling to the ground after being attacked.

McBride said he was acting in self-defense against Young, who is a chef at Macona BBQ according to NJ Pen. Young was hospitalized with a concussion.

McBride has been charged with one count of third-degree aggravated assault, one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. Read more here: Collingswood Business Owner Arrested In Shovel Attack: Police
