Collingswood Man Killed In Crash On White Horse Pike: Police

A Collingswood man was killed in a crash while riding his motorcycle on the White Horse Pike Saturday, police said.

LINDENWOLD, NJ — A Collingswood man was killed in a crash on the White Horse Pike in Lindenwold over the weekend, according to police

Thomas McKenna, 58, was killed after his motorcycle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the White Horse Pike at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Lindenwold police said on Wednesday.

After hitting the pedestrian, McKenna lost control of his motorcycle and hit a car that was driving in the opposite direction, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased about an hour later, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Cooper Hospital with serious injuries.

McKenna was an avid motorcyclist, a lifelong Boilermaker and a member of Local 13, according to his online obituary. He loved spending time with his family, going fishing, going to the beach, and boating.

His viewing is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Gardner Funeral Home, 200 South Black Horse Pike in Bellmawr. A funeral service will follow at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer research, 1111 Stewart Ave. Bethpage, NY 11714 to honor McKenna’s late mother Anna.
