Historical & Political Messages in Music Grades (8-9-10)
“We Didn’t Start the Fire” ...but come find out who did! See why being a “Fortunate Son” may not be all it’s cracked up to be and why Bruce Springsteen may have a problem with being “Born in the USA.” Throughout time our music has contained some obvious (and not so obvious) political/historical references. While being fixated on the rhythms and beats of a song, we sometimes overlook the underlying meaning in the lyrics. This course seeks to train your ears and minds to the messages behind generations of music. So, “For What It’s Worth,” come and join us as we rock out and explore the messages behind the music.
