Election Day 2019: Everything Collingswood Needs To Know

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — After a long campaign season, Election Day 2019 is finally here in Collingswood. There are a number of races on the ballot in both towns this November, including school board. Here is everything you need to know about Election Day in Collingswood:

Three seats are open on the Collingswood Public School District's Board of Education, but only two candidates filed petitions. Clinton Connor and Siria Rivera are running for two of the three seats.

According to the New Jersey School Boards Association, if there are fewer candidates running than there are number of seats available, the person who gets the highest number of write-in votes will be offered the final seat if they are a qualified candidate.
If there is a tie among write-in candidates, a special election is held between the candidates if more than one is a qualified candidate and wish to hold the position. If the write-in candidate doesn't wish to hold the seat, the county superintendent will appoint a new member to the seat.

Residents will also vote on their two representatives in the New Jersey State Assembly. Democratic incumbents Paul Moriarty and Gabriele Mosquera are being challenged by Republicans Paul Dilks and Stephanie Pakradooni. The Senate seat is not up for re-election this year. Incumbent Camden County Clerk Joseph Ripa, a Democrat, faces a challenge from Republican Roy Gustafson.
Melinda Kane, who was appointed to replace Bill Moen on the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders earlier this year, will run in a special election to fill the remainder of the term. The Democrat will face Republican Keith Cybulski.
Incumbent Freeholders Edward McDonnell and Carmen Rodriguez are both up for re-election. The Democrats will be challenged by Republicans Claire Gustafson and Nicole Nance.

Where do I vote?
Your polling place is included on a sample ballot mailed out to all registered voters. If you're still not sure, or you misplaced that sample ballot, you can look up your polling location on the New Jersey Division of Elections’ website.
When can I vote?
Election Day 2019 is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Are Elections Secure?
More than 125 deputy attorney generals will be stationed throughout the state to ensure a fair and smooth-running election, and to assist county election officials in resolving any emergent voting-related legal matters throughout the day, according to Attorney General Gurbir Grewal.
