Glassboro Man Arrested In Collingswood Man's Death: Police

A Glassboro man was arrested in a Baltimore hotel room on Monday in connection with the death of a 24-year-old Collingswood man.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A Glassboro man who was arrested in a Baltimore hotel on Monday has been charged in the fatal shooting of a Collingswood man, authorities announced.

Angel Torres, 31, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force — Baltimore Division and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

He has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Michael Giancola, of Collingswood, according to authorities.

Giancola was found inside a car that had crashed into a pole on the 1800 block of 6th Street at about 6 a.m. on Jan. 2. He had been shot multiple times, according to authorities.

According to his online obituary, Giancola had a daughter. As of Tuesday, an online fundraiser that had been started for her had raised $11,920.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child but what are you supposed to do when you lose an important member,” the fundraiser’s organizer wrote.
